Ferrari Testarossa

Extract from Performance Car

So what if the Testarossa was a bit soft around the edges and lacked the visual elegance of the earlier and later Ferrari products? It was bloody quick, created crowds wherever you parked it and set people dreaming of how they would spend that major pools win.

The Testarossa had a sensational V12 engine, made a noise that could make grown men tremble and, on a good day, might even hit 180mph. It was also relatively easy to drive, with the proviso that you had to watch out for the wide tail if you were on a ten-tenths run.

Hardcore drivers were right to criticise the Testarossa for not being as sharp as a flagship Ferrari should be, but this was far from being the worst car to wear the Prancing Horse badge. It is perhaps a borderline case of what a true icon should be, but I bet you would enjoy one if you drove it.
